1839 Coronet Head Large Cent – Silly Head. Please find for consideration an 1839 Coronet Head Large Cent, the Silly Head variety. Please note the high points of the coin have been lightly cleaned. Please also note the surface displays moderate corrosion/verdigris around many of the details, with the reverse displaying the greatest impact. Also note what appears to be a lamination error on 2 regions of the obverse #1 near the nose/cheek region of Liberty and #2 near the temple region of Liberty traveling down past the ear and further towards the neck. These could be scratches, but under magnification appear to be lamination errors. There is also a tiny rim nick on the obverse in the 2 o’clock position and another on the reverse in the 9 o’clock position. We have provided a few photos each of the obverse/reverse. Photos #1, 2, 5 and 6 are of the coin flat on a surface and best reflects the tone of the coin when viewing directly, while photos #3, 4, 7 and 8 are of the coin at a slight angle to provide greater detail.
